DejaNews Users Unhappy with Google
After buying Deja.com’s USENET archives, Google has yet to put the archive online at its new home, settling instead for an 8-month archive from Google’s own database. Users, according to Wired news, aren’t happy, and are trying to persuade Google to make the archive open-source. Google says that they will hopefully have the full functionality of the former Deja.com online in “the next few months”. So much for Internet time. I can’t believe that Deja is the only one who archived USENET. I’m hoping someone (perhaps an ISP with really good backups) will step forward and put an end to this.
